Mauro Minelli
Physician, Specialist in Allergology and Clinic Immunology

Mauro Minelli is Director of the IMID Centre, a health-care Unit for the treatment of immune-mediated disorders, at the Hospital “San Pio di Petralcina”, Campi Salentina, Italy (Local Health Authority ASL-LE).

He is Professor-in-charge at the University of Salento, Lecce, where he teaches Occupational Medicine (Italian disciplinary area Med/44), for the students of various courses of the Faculty of Sciences of Education.
Within the courses of the same Faculty, he is also in charge of a series of integrative lectures on the theme “Chronic inflammatory pathologies: connections of cause and effect between polluting agents and diseases”, within the teaching of General and Applied Hygiene (disciplinary area Med/42).

As a Professor-in-charge at the Telematic University “Pegaso”, he teaches “Environment Hygiene” (disciplinary area Med/42) within the course of studies in Sciences of Education, Faculty of Humane Sciences.

He teaches at the School of Counseling (Lecce), which has a systemic-relational stance, promoted by the Body of Education ADSUM and acknowledged by the SIC, or Italian Counseling Society. 

In 1997, he got the certificate of participation in the Master, “Contemporary management of patients with respiratory diseases”, held in June 1997, at Mcmaster University – Department of Medicine Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; as well as a certificate of participation in the Master “Globalisation and health services”, issued at the end of the academic year 2003-2004, by the Research Centre for Institution Building and Development – University of Urbino, with lectures of advanced education in the area of organisation and management of health-care services.

He has been a member of a number of scientific Societies and, in particular, he has been member-elect within the National Executive of the Italian Association of Aerobiology (AIA), of which he has also chaired the Interregional Section “Apulia-Lucania”. He has been a member of the promoting Committee of the Association of Territorial and Hospital Immunologists and Allergologists (AAITO). Currently he is part of the Italian Society of Allergology and Clinic Immunology (SIAIC), as well as of the Italian Association of Allergologists and Clinic Immunologists (AISAI) of which he is a founder member and National Vice-President.

Founder of the medical publication, South Immunology Journal, he has collaborated in a number of publishing initiatives and is, currently, editor-in-chief of the Imid Medical Journal, the AISAI official journal, active in the fields of immuno-allergologic research.

He has published about 70 scientific titles among monographs, reviews, editorials, addresses and posters in congress proceedings, chapters of books, and articles published in scientific journals.

He is actively committed to the definition and the promotion of a model of multidisciplinary service aimed at innovating, updating, as well as at integrating clinical approach, health-care management and medical-assistance routes within the broad field of  Immune-Mediated Inflammatory Disorders (IMID).
